Wayne Rooney may sue NoW over phone hacking

Manchester United and England footballer Wayne Rooney is the latest high-profile figure to consider taking legal action against the News of the World for phone hacking, according to MediaGuardian.

Scotland Yard has reportedly told Rooney that he may have been a targeted by private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, who carried out the illegal practice on behalf of the Sunday tabloid.

Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, has been told similar by the Metropolitan police, who are in the process of contacting “up to 4,000” victims of phone hacking.
