Twitter ‘too elitist’

Nick Denton, the head of US blog Gawker Media, says that Facebook is a better promotional tool than Twitter.

When it comes to driving traffic to his websites, he dismissed Twitter as a “closed, elite audience” that’s “not mainstream enough”.

He reckons Facebook, on the other hand, can send a blog post’s traffic up five-fold, and is looking at creating an “intimate” Facebook edition of Gawker to build on that.
