Daily Digest: Not Alan Partridge, Holmes’ Daybreak, the Muppets

Day two of a celebrity-packed Leveson Inquiry, and this time Alan Partridge Steve Coogan shared his thoughts. Among his claims was the accusation that his affair was revealed in a “dispassionate, sociopathic” sting by the News of the World. Like Labour MP Tom Watson, he also drew parallels to crime networks, saying of the NoW’s work: “It’s like the mafia, it’s just business.” (Source: Press Gazette)

Daybreak update! Eamonn Holmes has expressed an interest in sitting on the bleak sofa at silly o’clock in the morning. He admitted he’d “like to be in the frame” for the role, raising concerns that the Daybreak camera crew would need to move all the equipment back a meter. Are the Muppets set to make a television comeback? NBC has ordered scripts for a new series starring the likes of Miss Piggy, Animal and everyone’s favourite amphibious role model, Kermit. Hooray!
