News Corporation has rung the changes and revealed a new logo following the decision to divide Rupert Murdoch’s entertainment and publishing businesses.

The entertainment branch of News Corp will now come under the banner of 21st Century Fox, while Murdoch’s publishing empire will come under News Corp.

Speaking to investors at a New York meeting, Murdoch said the changes represented a chance to “do it all over again”.

News Corp’s new chief executive, Robert Thomson, told staff that the company wanted to foster a “start-up sensibility” but warned of future difficulties.

“We will be relentless in our cost-cutting and in our pursuit of profits.”

The company’s new logo is based on the handwriting of Rupert Murdoch and his father, “who have provided us all with not only a name, but a remarkable professional platform”, added Thomson.
