Circulations drop for Trinity’s regional dailies

Trinity Mirror has revealed dips in circulation for most of its regional daily titles after switching to monthly ABC reports.

The publisher previously released the figures every six months, but says the new format has been well received by media buyers.

However, out of 14 titles during May, only the Birmingham Mail posted an improvement (up 0.8 per cent).

The South Wales Echo, Coventry Telegraph, Newcastle Chronicle, Journal and Teesside Gazette all suffered sales decreases of 10 per cent or more.

The group’s three regional Sunday titles – the Sunday Sun, Sunday Mercury and Wales on Sunday – also saw sales fall by between 11.6pc and 13.6pc.
