Phone hacking lawsuits begin

Former Scotland Yard senior officer Brian Paddick and former Labour Minister Chris Bryant have launched a lawsuit alleging a police cover up of the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.

The former deputy prime minister John Prescott is also expected to join the action, which has the potential to force the Metropolitan police to reveal undisclosed files.

Comedian Steve Coogan and Chris Tarrant are also suing.
