News Corp to launch iPad-only newspaper on 2 February

News Corporation will launch its iPad-only newspaper, the Daily, at the Guggenheim in New York on 2 February, reports paidContent.

Rupert Murdoch was originally due to present the unveiling of his latest digital experiment alongside Steve Jobs. However, the Apple supremo has taken medical leave and will be replaced at the event by iTunes guru Eddy Cue.

Access to the Daily will cost 99 cents per week when it goes live. News Corp has reportedly invested $30 million dollars in the project, which employs 120 people based at the company’s Manhattan headquarters. Apple is taking the chance to join the launch as it plans to add subscriptions to the iTunes store.
