James Murdoch gets a step closer to father’s empire

James Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert, is moving from London to New York as he has been promoted to the role of deputy chief operating officer of News Corporation.

It’s being seen as the biggest sign yet that Murdoch senior is preparing his son to take over the Murdoch family business juggernaut. He will also become chairman and chief executive of News Corporation’s international businesses.

James will work closely with his father in his new role, and said after his appointment he felt “extremely fortunate to continue to support News International’s international growth”.
