i set to report 30 per cent growth

The 20p i daily launched last year as a slimmed down version of the Independent is expected to report 30 per cent month-on-month growth, according to MediaGuardian.

Alexander Lebedev’s brainchild reported an audited circulation average of 133,472 daily sales in January, but that figure is now understood to be closer to 170,000.

The paper’s exposure was boosted by a multi-million pound ad campaign at the turn of the year and has continued to do well since that ended.

Another fillip for Lebedev is the news that i doesn’t seem to have had a major cannibalisation effect on the Independent, with the loss of only a few thousand readers from the main paper, which costs £1, expected.
