Gaffe-prone weather forecaster lined up for 5 Live job

Tomasz Schafernaker, the weatherman infamous for pretending to itch his chin after being caught on camera giving a colleague the middle finger [see video below], is being moved off screen into a prominent role on 5 Live.

Schafernaker is being lined up for the breakfast show presented by Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty, according to MediaGuardian.

Other gafffes include getting the giggles on Radio 4 after telling listeners it would be “quite a muddy shite” at the Glastonbury music festival. And he was unable to stop laughing after a newsreader on the Beeb’s 24-hour news channel suggested he had a “frozen ball”. “Just the one!” he replied.

Charlie Beckett, director of POLIS at the London School of Economics, reacts to news that the UK government forced the Guardian into destroying hard drives that contained information leaked by Edward Snowden.
