Elisabeth joins Papa Murdoch on News Corp board after £415m Shine buyout

Elisabeth Murdoch will join the board of News Corporation after her father’s media empire bought out her Shine Television production company for £415m.

The deal, which won’t be completed until April, values the 42-year-old’s controlling stake in Shine – maker of Outcasts and Merlin – at close to £200m.

She will report to Chase Carey, News Corp’s US-based deputy chairman, meaning she won’t come under the command of her brother, James.
